This was our big idea behind financing a part of Little Wild Eye. One of the good things about modern times is access to different sources of funding, we feel that with such a creative project we need a platform built for creators, and Kickstarter just happens to be that platform. 

We have successfully used Kickstarter to fund the first print run of books. Kickstarter was the pre-ordering system to get your hands on the book before anyone else at a discounted rate. We had some of our other really beautiful products, such as limited edition signed prints or a signed copy of the book itself. We did receive a few very kind donations for the project which we greatly appreciated in helping us get to our final figure.

We ran the campaign over 30 days. As with most things these days there are algorithms to which we must bow down. The basis of this algorithm is that a project that is popular from the get go will gain more attention on the Kickstarter platform. So if our campaign got a fast start, with a lot of purchases within the first hours of launching, it would be promoted throughout the Kickstarter platform. Which we managed to do and got the ‘Project We Love’ badge. 

The risk to all this was that if we didn’t hit our goal we would not receive the funding, and we would  be back to the drawing board of how to better fund our first print run.
