Little Wild Eye

Blue Monkey - Cercopithecus mitis

A fun loving gregarious monkey with many subspecies. It is not really blue in colour, this subspecies from the DRC has very dark black and grey fur.

They are found in evergreen forest and bamboo. They eat mostly fruit, leaves and insects.

They are currently listed as ‘Least Concern’ on the IUCN Redlist but face threats from deforestation with the growing human population in their range. They are also considered pests by farmers and tourist attractions and are thus persecuted against.
