Black-winged Stilt - Himantopus himantopus

A bird with a very broad range, as it appears in most continents including both the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australasia. 

This special bird has the longest leg to body ratio of all birds. It is predominantly found in wetland areas where it feeds on aquatic insects in the shallows. 

These birds are listed as ‘Least Concern’ on the IUCN Redlist.
