A Bit About Us

We are Kate Malone and Cameron Raffan, our shared love of nature and wilderness brought us together, where we spent 8 years living and working in some of Africa’s remote parts. We have managed some of the most prestigious safari camps in Africa with constant access to incredible wildlife and beautiful scenery.

Cam is a wildlife photographer who developed his photographic skill to better identify the bird species in each new location of work. He found a new passion in photography and his artistic vision.  With such privilege living and working in wilderness areas, Cam has built an endless library of wildlife photos. 

Kate is even more of an established photographer, having spent her previous life as a professional photographer in London, shooting everything from food, to movies, to just about anything.

Starting a young family, we decided to take a break from the bush, however we could not have foreseen what the world had waiting for us. With the global pandemic, all tourism came to a halt and during the long lockdowns whilst stuck in South Africa we had to get creative with what to do next. We decided to make a new business out of our black and white creation, with the hope of giving something back in these times of need.

We delved deep into Cam’s photo library, going through hundreds of thousands of images that may fit the concept. We then set about developing what we wanted to achieve and got a bit ahead of ourselves. We had fun developing a whole new range of gear to fill up the shelves of any gift shop. However, to start, we have scaled back to our main core product that started this all off, the ‘My First Safari’ Concertina Book.

We have recently welcomed to the world, our daughter, Molly, who is already enjoying her new ‘First Safari’ as can be seen in the images above. We can’t wait to get the two of them into the bush to experience a bit of what we have shown them from the very beginning. In the meantime we are making our home down in the South East of the UK and are very excited to be finally launching Little Wild Eye.
